On Friday afternoon, August 7, 2026, at approximately 2:17 p.m., Officers of the Paris Police Department were dispatched to the 3400 block of Clarksville Street in reference to a security check. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject rolling around on the ground and making unusual and incoherent statements. The subject admitted to being under the influence of narcotics and was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication. During the arrest, officers also located methamphetamine in the subject’s possession. He was subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B, 1–4 grams, a third-degree felony.
On Sunday evening, August 9, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Officers of the Paris Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1300 block of Clarksville Street for operating without headlights. As the vehicle came to a stop, the driver exited and fled from the vehicle on foot. Officers pursued the driver, and after a brief foot chase, he was apprehended and placed under arrest for Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot.
A records check revealed the driver had outstanding felony warrants out of Lamar County for Theft of Property Under $2,500 with two or more previous convictions. During the booking process, officers also discovered the subject had prior convictions for Evading Arrest. Based on those prior convictions, the Evading Arrest or Detention charge was enhanced to a state jail felony.
Officers made 92 traffic stops, 17 adult arrests, and answered 182 calls for service during this reporting period.
