Paris Junior High is brimming with pride as two of its students, 7th grader Garrett Lane and 8th grader Amelia Elliott, have emerged victorious in the school’s annual Spelling Bee competition. The event witnessed fierce competition among nearly a dozen talented spellers from PJH.
The competition was a true test of vocabulary and composure, stretching over 13 intense rounds. Garrett and Amelia showcased their exceptional spelling skills with challenging words such as solemnly, cajolery, hyperventilated and misanthrope. The climax of the competition came with the winning word, silhouette, which sealed their victory.
The success at Paris Junior High has opened the doors for Garrett and Amelia to represent their school at the Lamar County Spelling Bee. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 4:45 p.m. It will be held at the Weger Auditorium, where they will go head-to-head with top spellers from across the county.
