Stalking Complaint on East Texas A&M Campus Leads to Pursuit and Arrest
The East Texas A&M University Police Department (UPD) has taken Dionysus Chawn Henderson into custody following a response to a reported stalking incident and a subsequent vehicle pursuit earlier today.
UPD officers were notified of possible stalking activity occurring near the Pride Rock Residence Hall on the campus of East Texas A&M in Commerce, Texas, at 11:35 a.m. this morning . Officers immediately deployed to the area to investigate the complaint and ensure the safety of nearby residents and the university community. Upon arrival, officers identified a vehicle driven by Henderson, who was the subject of an active arrest warrant for harassment.
When UPD officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop to serve the warrant, Henderson refused to comply and fled the scene, prompting a brief pursuit in the area. Officers utilized a less lethal device during the encounter, striking Henderson and enabling officers to safely detain him without further incident.
Henderson now faces multiple charges, including Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing, and Harassment. Additional charges are expected as investigators continue to review evidence and statements related to today’s incident.
The East Texas A&M University Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Commerce Police Department for their valuable assistance and coordinated response, which contributed to the successful apprehension of the suspect.
See something, say something. Protect the Pride.
