The REACH Center in Paris, a non-profit organization that cares for kids with special needs, is in need of volunteers and donations after it’s building flooded during last week’s storms.
“REACH had an amazing spring break but then it rained,” said executive director Krissy Crites. “The waterline on the walls was two-inches above our four-inch baseboards.”
Upon discovering their building had flooded, Rocking E Moving helped staff remove items from rooms flooded and the United Way of Lamar County helped by getting Serve Pro out to help clean up.
“REACH will have to remain closed until we get everything back in place. This cannot be done until it’s all dried out. As of Friday, this would be three to five days. Once drying equipment and dehumidifiers are removed, we’ll have to clean all affected classrooms and put things back in place.”
The REACH Center is now seeking volunteers and donations to help. What can you do to help?
- volunteers will be needed when the time comes to put all large items back into place
- the center is in need of a large dumpster to throw all the damaged items away (as of Friday, they already had close to 20 bags full of items they’ve had to throw away)
- donations are needed to replace damaged items and to replace cove base (wall base boards) on the entire backside of the building
“Mostly, we need prayers to get all this done as quickly as possible so we can get our babies back into REACH and served. Many of our families have no one else that can keep their children with disabilities and will have to be taking off work early or miss entirely because REACH is unsafe for their children right now.”
