Robert Evans (Bob) Parker was born in Rotan, Texas, on February 14, 1947, a precious Valentine to his parents as their only son. He died on April 24, 2025, near Houston, Texas, where he had resided throughout his adult life.
A graveside service has been set for Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery Open Air Chapel with Rev. Katrina Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at Evergreen Cemetery thirty minutes prior to the service.
Bob graduated from Paris High School in 1965, where he was a star pitcher and first baseman for the Wildcats, as well as playing football, basketball and track. He was the only four-year letterman in baseball at the time of his graduation and received a number of accolades in his favorite sport, as well as excelling in academics. He was also Hi-Y President, Tri-Captain of the football team, a member of the Lettermen’s Club and Key Club and a 1965 Who’s Who.
He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1970. His class was unable to have a graduation ceremony due the double tornado that struck Lubbock on May 11, 1970. Soon after graduating he moved to Houston and worked as a National Bank Examiner for several years, winning trips to the south of France and to New Zealand due to his achievements in that position. He then worked for Henry S. Miller Brokerage as a realtor while he pursued his Master’s Degree from the University of Houston Economics Department. He obtained his brokerage license and subsequently founded Robert Parker Realty. He managed over a hundred government-foreclosed homes in the 1980’s until they were all sold, after which he managed and sold a number of other properties over the years.
Bob had a lifetime interest in learning and enjoyed researching many subjects, with a prolific ability to retain and share his knowledge with others.
He is survived by his sister, Lynnda Parker Jenkins (Jarrell) and his nephew, Lance Lokey, all of Lubbock; special friends, Ron and Tricia Lewis. He was preceded by his parents, Dorothy and Robert L. Parker, and his sister, Julie Parker, all of Paris.
