Laura Mae Tingle Carroll, 86, of Hopewell, was called to heaven on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22nd at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Carroll, the daughter of Elvin Clark & Lucille Craven Tingle, was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Hopewell.
She was a force of nature that good people were drawn to. Someone that you never wanted to disappoint, a nurturer, a God fearing woman that had a laugh so contagious that you smile just thinking about it, but most of all a genuinely kind soul.
On April 8, 1950, she married Leslie Dale Carroll, Sr., building fifty-four years of family and memories before his death on Nov. 1, 2004. During her early married life she worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas. After returning to Lamar County she worked for Hollywood Vasarette and a short time at Kroger. Laura was a member of Springlake Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings, Verdell Holcomb & husband Eldon and Bobby Tingle.
Survivors include two children; Susan Layton & husband Bobby of Sumner and Leslie Dale Carroll, Jr. and wife Carol of Paris, eight grandchildren; Robby, Clint, Melissa, Danielle, Cassi, Megan, Wendy and Bryan, sixteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Martha Tingle of Hopewell along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be Rylee Layton, Alex Rodriguez, Marc McGahee, Devyn Manning, Alan Vanderburg, and Coy Cox.
