Marilyn Jan O’Brien Dyke, 74 formerly of Paris, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2026, after seven months of battling multiple health issues.
Her journey was not an easy one, but one that she fought with extraordinary courage and determination. During her battle she dealt with Afib, stroke, five fractures in her right foot, renal cancer, surgery to remove part of her kidney, renal failure and heart failure.
At the time of her passing, God had blessed her by allowing her to overcome Afib, regaining her speech and strength from the stroke, becoming completely cancer free without having to do any chemo or radiation, healing her fractures so that she no longer required a cast and improving her kidney function so that she never had to do dialysis.
Jan was born in Paris, Texas on September 16, 1952 to McDonald and Aileen McHam O’Brien. She had worked as a cashier at WalMart for almost 30 years. She has been attending church at Lake Highlands Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
She is survived by two brothers: Don O’Brien and his wife Karen, Scott O’Brien and wife Lynette, Daughter: Rebecca Garcia, Grandchildren: Jeffery and wife Rachel, Kayla and husband Yoki, Dakota and wife Lauren and Brien. Great grands: Rylan, Addie, Chloe, Khalio and Silas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, McDonald and Aileen O’Brien and by her sister Mary Helen O’Brien.
On October 29, 2026, a visitation will be held at 1:30 pm, followed by a service at 2 pm at Lake Highlands Baptist Church located at 1500 College St, Sulphur Springs, Texas.
