The sign says “CLOSING”, however, Bealls in Paris Towne Center is technically “converting”, according to reports.

Staff at the Paris location were made aware of the news earlier this week. They say the actual closure won’t happen until May or June 2020 before it re-opens at Gordman’s.

Gordman’s is an off-price retailer that sells a wide variety of merchandise including clothing and shoes at lower prices than most department stores.

The transition is one of several hundred planned by the publicly-traded company, which operates around 625 department stores in 42 states under the Bealls, Palais Royal, Peebles, Stage and Goody’s nameplates. By the end of the third fiscal quarter of next year, the corporation plans to convert most of its locations to Gordmans in order to capitalize on a lucrative off-price department store model that has helped keep brick-and-mortar retailers in the business.

While many locals aren’t happy to hear that one of their favorite stores is closing; the discounts they’ll see will bring a smile to their faces.

Employees at the store said there are some huge discounts and sales going on with some items up to 40% off.
