LCSO release more info on persons of interest in homicide case

Earlier this evening Lamar County Sheriff’s Office reported two individuals have been identified as persons of interest after deputies responded to a residence in the N.W. portion of Lamar County in reference to a deceased person.

From Lamar County Sheriff’s Office:

On Monday, April 26, 2021, the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence in the Northwest part of the county regarding a deceased person.

While deputies were at the house, the bodies of a deceased female and a deceased male were found. This case is being investigated by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers as a homicide.

There have been two persons identified as persons of interest. James Elrod Iii and Carolyn Elrod both have outstanding warrants for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and wanted for questioning. Names of the deceased are being withheld at this time, pending notification of family members.

This is an ongoing investigation and more details will be released at a later date.
