Christians in Action served more than 600 meals Tuesday afternoon with the help of local organizations.
Though it was a cold and rainy afternoon, several students, churches and other organizations helped Christians in Action serve the annual Thanksgiving meals to those in need – a tradition stemming from more than 40 years.
Melissa Wickersham with Christians in Action said feeding more than 600 people was “wow.”
“Today was an absolutely amazing day,” she said. “With very little to no advertising we served over 600 plates of food to people in Paris, Texas.
“God totally had His hand on us today as this outreach went amazingly well. I can’t thank PRMC enough, Shawana Rhoades and her Prairiland students, Christians in Action and Don Walker. Everybody pitched in and it was wonderful.”
Wickersham said Paris Regional Medical Center cooked the entire meal, and Don Walker and Christians in Action put the chicken and vegetable meals together. The First Baptist Women’s Readers Group put together some hygiene bags and socks, while Lora Broadus donated 50 blankets.
Shawanna Rhoades, Prairiland ISD Beta Sponsor helped coordinate a coat drive with her beta students.
