There will be a new Sheriff in Delta County come Jan. 1, 2025, after the current Constable, Marshall Lynch won the 2024 primary elections on Tuesday against current incumbent Sheriff Charla Singleton.
“I am overwhelmed with the support I have received throughout this election. Thank you to all who made this possible. I look forward to being the best I can be for Delta County and all its citizens,” said Marshall.
Early voting saw Lynch ahead of Singleton (435 to 358), with the final count having Lynch at 829 votes and Singleton at 759 votes.
Lynch has worked in Delta County in various positions over the past 15-years, including volunteer firefighter, jailer, dispatcher, deputy sheriff, and currently Constable for the past seven years.
Singleton, first announced her intention to run for sheriff in 2019 and won the run-off election in 2020. She has worked her entire law enforcement career in Delta County as jailer, dispatcher, deputy, sergeant, chief deputy and sheriff.
“Thank you to the citizens of Delta County who voted for me and supported me. Despite the unanticipated outcome, I know His plan prevails and that alone gives me peace. To dissolve the big question, I do plan to finish the remainder of my term which ends December 31, 2024,” said Singleton online.
In the race for Delta County Constable, Elmo Robinson won with 862 votes ahead of Dustin Hunter with 402 votes and Kip Sonntag with 269 votes.
Mike Gibson won Commissioner Pct. 1 with 338 votes ahead of Morgan Baker with 252 votes.
Seth Cox won Commissioner Pct. 2 with 162 votes ahead of Mark Deatherage with 110 votes.
Anthony Roberts won Commissioner Pct. 3 with 250 votes ahead of Zan Hoskinson with 1-5 votes.
Jay Garrett won Delta County Attorney with 807 votes ahead of Leigh Thompson with 686 votes.
According to the final results, 43.23% of registered Delta County voters cast their ballots.
