Continuing its plans to expand Highway 82, the Texas Department of Transportation seeks public input in regard to the about 16-mile project. TxDOT held a virtual public meeting on the proposed project, and the community has until May 14, 2021, to add input.
According to TxDOT, this improvement will be from the Fannin County line to Loop 286 in west Paris.
“The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potential displacements of residential and commercial structures,” according to TxDOT’s website.
The proposed improvements, according to TxDOT, include U.S. 82’s widening from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway for about 16 miles. There are two 12-foot-wide travel lanes in each direction, a 10-foot-wide outside shoulder and a 68-foot-wide depressed median from Fannin County line to County Road 23900; and from CR 23900 to Loop 286, there are two 12-foot-wide travel lanes in each direction, a 10-foot-wide outside shoulder an a 16-foot-wide left turn lane.
