On Thursday, Sheriff Scott Cass announced the addition of VendEngine commissary services to the Lamar County Jail.
“The service is aimed at providing a simple, efficient, more accessible process for adding money to an inmate’s commissary account. With this service in place, the Lamar County Jail will no longer accept money orders or cashier checks or any other type of check as a form of payment for adding funds to an inmate’s commissary account,” said Cass.
To place money on an inmates account, go to the lobby of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office 24 hours a day, seven days a week and use the freestanding kiosk. The kiosk will accept cash or credit/debit cards. Simply follow the on-screen directions to add money to an inmate’s commissary account.
You can also add money to an inmate’s commissary account by going online to VendEngine.com. Once on the website, click on the make deposit tab at the top right corner. On the next screen choose the location of the inmate (Texas), choose the facility (Lamar), select the service (commissary deposit) and then click continue. This will take you to a new screen where you can search for the inmate by first or last name. Once you have located the inmate, click continue and you will be directed to a screen that allows you to choose the amount you wish to place on the inmate’s commissary account and enter your credit/debit card information. Once this is done you can complete your transaction.
