For some nurses, they knew from a young age that’s what they wanted to do and for others, the calling came later in life.

That calling came later in life for Paris Regional Medical Centers (PRMC) newest ‘DAISY Award’ recipient Trevor Roberts who believes there is no greater feeling than helping someone.

“My wife and I met in high school when we were 16-years-old and while she always knew she wanted to be a nurse, I had no clue up until that point what I wanted to do,” said Roberts.

After doing some research, Roberts decided to also become a nurse and it was while studying he knew he had found his true calling.

“I became an LVN when I was 19-years-old and worked as an LVN for about seven years before completing my degree and becoming an RN,” explained Roberts. “I knew once I got in the nursing program that I had found my calling.”

PRMC recently recognized Roberts dedication to his patients and his passion for the job by presenting him with ‘The DAISY Award’.

“Trevor is kind, compassionate, dependable, responsible, a critical thinker and a team player,” said director Brandi Jones, RN. “I get many compliments from patients and truly, to sum it all up, they trust him and he makes them comfortable.”

‘The DAISY Award’ is presented to “extraordinary nurses” and honors the “super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day.”

“He is very patient, kind and attentive and always a team player,” said a co-worker. “He’s the kind of nurse a patient would want to have and the kind of nurse other nurses want to work with.”

That patient, kind and attentive nature didn’t go unnoticed recently when a patients daughter wrote to PRMC.

“Trevor was our nurse during a very scary and difficult time for our family. He was very patient and attentive with my dad who gets very confused and frustrated. He helped my mom get the appropriate doctor for his surgery. We had a great experience at this hospital.”

While many sing his praises, Roberts says it is an honor to be able to care for them.

“As nurses, we are invited into the patient’s lives at the most vulnerable times of their lives, and it is an honor to be able to care for and interact with them and as well as their loved ones during this time. There is no greater feeling than helping someone in need, and I get to do that every time I walk through those doors.”
