Two former Lamar County student athletes drafted by Major League Baseball franchises

Two former Lamar County student-athletes have been drafted by Major League Baseball franchises.

On Wednesday evening, families of the baseball players announced via Facebook the news.

Kevin Dickey, a former North Lamar Panther, and current Seminole State Trojan was been drafted by the Houston Astros.

North Lamar ISD Police Department posted online, “We couldn’t be more proud of former North Lamar Panther and current Seminole State Trojan Kevin Dickey. Kevin was drafted by the Houston Astros. Great job Kevin! Keep up the incredible work!! Kevin is the son of Mickey and Terri Dickey.”

Also drafted on Wednesday night was Paris High graduate Phillip Sikes who will be joining the Arizona Diamondbacks.

“A BIG congratulations to current Express player, Phillip Sikes, as he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks right before tonight’s game. Congratulations Phillip,” said Eau Claire Express on their Facebook page.
