It seems innocent enough, a red balloon tied to a storm drain, however, after the release of Stephen King’s It last year, the lone balloon has residents terrified.
“Nope. Absolutely not. I won’t be going anywhere near that balloon,” said Paris resident Melissa Jernigan.
“Someone is playing a prank, but it still terrifies me,” said another local.
For those of you who don’t know, Pennywise – It – the clown uses red balloons to lure children to their death in Stephen King’s It.
Last year, photos circulated social media of red balloons appearing in multiple locations, not only in Paris but across the country which was attributed to organized marketing from the movie.
For those terrified of red balloons, or clowns for that matter, the balloon popping back up around Paris seems fitting, given the time of year, and nothing but a harmless prank by locals.
