The Association of Lamar County Republicans will soon see a new title for its organization as the group expects to support any candidate who supports America.
ALCR President Robert Black said he is pushing for the change to Lamar County Conservatives, because “we care about the constitution, we care about America.”
“Too many people fought and died for this nation for me to support some RINO (Republican In Name Only) that’s going to go up there and do whatever,” he said. “We’ve gotta be ready, we’ve gotta be willing, and we’ve gotta be able — all of us — at any time as patriots … to do whatever is needed to preserve our nation and our beliefs.”
Black said the organization will support the candidate who supports America, and they will continue to support the Republican Party if the candidate and group are “doing the right thing.”
“I’m definitely not supporting a democrat candidate, but for God then country,” he said.
Black said there have been some minor confusions with the ALCR and Lamar County’s Republican Party.
“This gives me an opportunity to appeal to a wider base and say, ‘hey, we’re conservative. We’re patriots,’” he said. “We’ll support the republicans’ guys running, but if there’s a third party guy that we want to support, we can do so.”
Black said the rebranding is expected to take place sometime February.
