Paris police responded to an assault in the 100 block of NW 30th St at 6:52 a.m. on May 12. It was reported that a 35-year old male suspect had strangled the 24-year old victim with his hands during a domestic dispute. The suspect fled the scene before the officers arrived. The victim did not seek medical treatment. The incident is under investigation.
Later that morning at 9:10 a.m. on May 12, officers responded to the 2800 block of Stillhouse Rd in reference to a burglary of a building. It was reported that someone broke into an office, the unknown suspect(s) gained entry by breaking a window. Once inside, some personal information and items were taken. The incident is currently under investigation.
Paris police later responded to another assault call, this time in the 300 block of Stone Ave at 11:49 a.m. It was reported that a 22-year old male had strangled a 21-year old victim with his hands during a domestic dispute. The male had fled the scene before the officers arrived. The victim did not seek medical treatment. The incident is also under investigation.
Julie Justice Stephens, 52, of Powderly, was arrested at her residence on a felony warrant charging her with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. Stephens had been identified as a person involved in an altercation at 3:07 a.m. on May 11, in the 800 block of SW 41st St. She then fled the scene and refused to stop when the officers attempted to stop her. Stephens was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris police met with a victim of an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at the Emergency Room at PRMC at 12:01 a.m. on May 13. The victim reported that while walking in about the 200 block of NW 7th St, two males assaulted him demanding his money. During the assault, one of the males pulled out a large knife and swung it at the victim. The victim received a large laceration to his hand. The suspects then ran away and were last seen entering a vehicle driving away. The victim sought medical treatment. The incident is under investigation.
