On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at approximately 3:06 am, Lamar County deputies were dispatched to a residence on FM 905 for a report of a motor vehicle burglary. The caller informed dispatch that they had interrupted a suspect attempting to break into their vehicles. While en route to this call, deputies received another report regarding a gunshot wound related to a separate motor vehicle burglary at another residence on FM 905. Upon arrival, the homeowner stated that he heard noises outside, went to investigate, and was confronted by a suspect breaking into his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway. The homeowner confronted the suspect, who shot him and fled the scene in a dark-colored car.
Detectives immediately began an investigation to identify the suspects involved. With the assistance of several concerned citizens providing information and cooperation from the Paris Police Department, three suspects were identified. Later that morning, search warrants were executed at three separate residences in Paris by the Lamar County Special Response Teamand the Paris Police Department’s SWAT team. Information obtained from these search warrants helped Detectives locate two of the suspects in the southeastern part of Paris. One of the suspects, a juvenile, was taken into custody on a felony warrant from a previous incident. Another juvenile, who was not a suspect, was taken into custody for possessing a stolen firearm. Later that evening, another suspect, 18-year-old Akyrious Chandler, was apprehended for aggravated robbery connected to the shooting that occurred earlier that morning.
At this time, Chandler and a juvenile suspect are in custody for the aggravated robbery. Chandler has a bond of $150,000, and the juvenile remains in the custody of a juvenile detention center. Another suspect, 17-year-old Jose Trevino, remains at large with an outstanding warrant for aggravated robbery. All three suspects currently reside in Paris.
