Paris Texas! They’ve been dubbed the new “IT Shoe” by Glamour Magazine and celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Emily Ratajkowski have been spotted wearing them.
Despite what the name might suggest, we’re not talking about our hometown or even something created here. We are talking about the biggest thing in the high-end fashion world right now that happens to share the same name as the place we call home.
Paris Texas is a footwear brand from Milan, Italy that was founded in 2015 by sisters Annamaria and Margherita Brivio. According to Annamaria, their goal was to make shoes that felt incredibly fashion-forward and would last for years but didn’t feel like an unattainable investment.
The popular shoes come in a variety of styles (priced under $650) including shoes with bold metallic leathers, blinged-out oversized buckles and chunky-heel styles (which are also expected to be a big hit in seasons to come).
But how did the sisters come up with the brand name? No, it’s not because the sisters visited our little country town and fell in love (truly, they’ve probably never heard of us), it was pure coincidence.
“Paris and Texas are two places that are very different,” the sisters told Glamour, “Paris is sophisticated, and Texas is wild and edgy. We have represented these contrasts through simple and sophisticated shapes in bold colors and fabrics.”
So, if you are wanting to bring a little couture to your closet, or want to bring ‘Paris, Texas’ with you to the big city, then perhaps an investment into a new pair of shoes may be the way to go. You never know, you may just help get our little town on the map…
