This time next year, the 2024 XXXIII Summer Olympic Games will be underway in Paris, France, and to mark exactly a year until the games, NBC featured Paris, Texas, for a story comparing the two cities in an interview that aired on July 26, 2023.
“It was a great way to gain some publicity for our community and all the positive things happening in our town,” said Mayor Pro Tem Mihir Pankaj. “Mayor Hughes and I had the opportunity to sit down with Jay Gray and share our take on what makes this community so special. We both agreed that the people of Paris and their pride and passion for their community is what truly makes Paris a special place.”
Pankaj said that during their stay in Paris, the NBC crew had “nothing but amazing things to say” those they met in the community and that they loved visiting various businesses around town and seeing the positive changes that have been made.
“The City of Paris, Texas, being featured on a major network like NBC is exciting for our community and its citizens,” said Mayor Hughes. ” We are a growing City in many different facets with the help of Paris Economic Development Corporation and Lamar Chamber of Commerce. I’m very excited for the direction our City is headed.”
Hughes said one of the questions was, “is the City of Paris, Texas, preparing anything that could relate to the 2024 Olympics schedule in Paris, France?.”
“We currently don’t have anything scheduled or in planning at the moment but we can see if we can schedule some type of event that coincides with the 2024 Olympic Games in France,” said Hughes.
Pankaj said, “it was such a great opportunity and I hope this will help boost the visibility for our community, and bring awareness for this gem in Texas. We happily extended another invitation for the NBC crew to come back and visit us for the Eclipse coming up in 2024.”
The XXXIII Olympic Summer Games in Paris, France, will be from 26 July to 11 August, 2024.
