The Lamar County Chamber of Commerce is continuing to spotlight their long-standing businesses that are making a difference in our community.

Paris Regional Medical Center is not the hospital they once were. They have intentionally invested resources into additional training and technological innovation to ensure delivery of the highest quality of care in the region.

As a Chamber Member of over 67 years, this means commitment to community strength. The hospital has come a long way since its inception in 1911. The beginning of what was to eventually become Paris Regional dates to 1896 when the Sisters of Mercy operated St. Patrick’s Academy, a boarding school near downtown Paris, Texas. After several years of agonizing labor and severe tests of faith, six sisters reopened the facility as St. Joseph’s Infirmary on October 1, 1911. Beginning in 2001, St. Joseph’s Health System acquired competing, CHRISTUS. The two entities eventually transformed into Paris Regional Medical Center, current-day employer of over 900 Team Members.

Modern-day PRMC’s healthcare market has grown so immensely that it now acts as NE Texas and SE Oklahoma’s regional healthcare hub. As an acute care, licensed for 154-bed facility, Paris Regional’s Administration has grown services to include cardiac rehabilitation, diagnostic
imaging, digital mammography, emergency healthcare, heart hospital services, intensive care, interventional radiology, laboratory services, men’s health, pediatrics, robotic assisted surgery, orthopedics, physical rehabilitation, urology, women’s health services, and wound care.

The current climate of Paris Regional Medical Center is strong. In under two years, the clinical teams at Paris Regional have obtained a staggering number of nationally recognized designations and accreditations including being named a Designated Level 3 Trauma Facility, making PRMC the most complex hospital of its kind within a 90 mile radius. Accompanying the Trauma

Designation PRMC’s accolades include a Certified Primary Stroke Center, Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI, CAP Accredited Laboratory, Mother Friendly Worksite, Designated Level 1 Neonatal Care, Texas 10 Step Certification, Wound Care Center of Excellence, and Wound Care Center of Distinction.

Looking for a brief snapshot of what these achievements mean to residents in Lamar County?

Lamar County residents should be aware of their around-the-clock availability of orthopedics, operating room access, labor and delivery services, radiology and lab services, and 24/7 emergency medicine with offerings much more extensive than a typical emergency room. At
Paris Regional the ER is backed by a fully encompassed facility which provides for the continuous, and prompt availability of general surgeons and anesthesiologists. Also of notable mention, PRMC is the only Emergency Room facility in our area in-network with all major insurance plans.

Paris Regional’s economic impact and commitment to the community is told in numbers. In 2017 Paris Regional Teams delivered 750 babies, cared for over 36,000 ER patients, scheduled 44,000 outpatient visits, accepted 6,700 EMS arrivals, admitted 7,300 to in-patient care, provided $39.5 million in uncompensated care paid $55.1 million in payroll, and recruited 9 physicians, many offering specialty coverage.
