On officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 3300 block of NE Loop 286 for speeding. The driver accelerated in an attempt to evade the officer. The driver then shut off the vehicle lights and attempted to exit onto N Main St. During this attempt, the vehicle struck another vehicle causing severe damage to both vehicles. The fleeing driver eventually stopped in the 2500 block of N. Main. The officer made contact with the driver, Brenton Kyler Scott Walton, who was found to be intoxicated. Walton refused to comply with officers’ commands and resisted being taken into custody. He was eventually taken into custody with assistance from a civilian on scene. Walton was charged with DWI with one prior conviction, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, and Leaving the scene of an accident. He was taken for a blood draw to determine his alcohol levels and then booked into jail.
