On Nov. 25 at 6:56 a.m., officers responded to a call of a vehicle blocking the driveway of a business in the 3800 block of Lamar Ave. They made contact with Carl Lee Bishop who was asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle. Bishop was found to have local warrants for which he was arrested. A vehicle inventory located prescription medications that were not prescribed to Bishop. He was charged with possession of a Dangerous Drug as well.
On Nov. 26 at 7:43 a.m., officers were notified of an assault that had occurred in the 1700 block of Fitzhugh St. the victim told officers that a family member, Vestal Cooper, had assaulted her and choked her. There was evidence of the assault. Cooper was located a short time later and arrested for Assault Family Violence by impeding breath.
On Nov. 23 at 4:45 p.m., officers arrested Davez Javon Coursey after being notified of a disturbance in the 400 block of Bonham St. Coursey had assaulted a family member and had caused severe damage to the victim’s apartment. He was treated for injuries received prior to officers arrival and then placed in jail. He was charged with Assault Causes Bodily Injury to Family Member.
On Nov. 24 at 9:57 a.m., officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration in the 900 block of Lamar Ave. The driver, Tyson Edward Fitzgerald, agreed to consensual search of the vehicle, which located synthetic marijuana in a door pocket. Fitzgerald was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and placed in jail.
On Nov. 23 at 2:40 a.m., officers arrested Mick Nathan Mackey on a warrant for Accident involving Injury. Mackey had fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident which had occurred on NE Loop 286 on October 3, 2023. He had later falsely reported his vehicle as stolen to Red River County Sheriffs Department. He was arrested on the warrant and placed in jail.
On Nov. 23 at 3:09 a.m., officer attempted to stop a motorcycle ridden by Tiddaryl Lamontre Quav Norris, after a traffic violation. Norris attempted to evade the officer on the dirt bike he was riding. He eventually stopped in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue. He was charged with Traffic Warrants as well as evading arrest with a vehicle.
On Nov. 25 at 2:36 p.m., officer responded to a call of possible DWI. The vehicle stopped in the 500 block of E Houston St. and the officer made contact with the driver, Adam Saunders Ratcliff. Ratcliff was found to be intoxicated and had an open container of alcoholic beverage in the vehicle. He was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
On Nov. 25 at 3:12 a.m., officers responded to an assault in the 4000 block of Shannon Drive. The victim advised that Constance Mae Williams, a family member had assaulted her. Williams was contacted and found to be under the influence of some substance. There was evidence of the assault which was reported. Williams was arrested and charged with Assault of a Family Member.
On Nov. 24 at 1:31 a.m., a traffic stop in the 5000 block of SE Loop 286 resulted in the arrest of Sammy Wayne Chesshire. Chesshire was found to be intoxicated and also had 3 outstanding warrants for misdemeanor charges. A check revealed that Chesshire had 2 previous convictions for DWI which enhanced his DWI to a Felony DWI 3rd or more.
On Nov. 26 at 7:53 a.m., officers responded to a UTV stuck in the ditch in the 2100 block of NE Loop 286. It was discovered that the UTV as well as others had been stolen from a business in the 2300 block of NE Loop 286. The suspects had cut locks from storage containers and had stolen the vehicles as well as a trailer. Investigation is ongoing.
