On Nov. 15, the department received a report of theft of mail in the 900 block of Clement Road. A witness stated they were following a subject that had been witnessed taking mail from several boxes on Clement Road. Based on witness reports, an officer located Curtis Ray Gentry (46) in a business in the 1600 block of N. Main. Gentry denied having any mail but a consensual search revealed mail from six Clement Rd. addresses in his pocket. Gentry was arrested for Theft of Mail. He was taken into custody without incident.
On Nov. 15, Officers were called to the 500 block of NE 6th Street in regards to a Burglary of a Residence. The victim advised that between November 13 and the report date, someone had entered her residence and stolen an air conditioner. Suspect had destroyed another window unit air conditioner while taking the copper from it. There were several backpacks at the residence that did not belong to the resident as well as a bicycle that had been left. It is believed that the suspect was still in the residence at the time of discovery but that they left when the complainant went to call police. The incident is under investigation.
On Nov. 15, an officer of the Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force assisted Red River County Sheriff’s Department in the recovery of two stolen vehicles in Bowie County. A 1981 Chevrolet pickup and a 1993 Chevrolet Suburban were both recovered. Both vehicles were in various stages of disassembly and appeared to have been hidden on the property intentionally. Officers interviewed the property owner and obtained further evidence and information. The investigation will be conducted by Bowie County investigators.
On Nov. 16, officers were notified of a Stalking incident in the 200 block of Johnson Woods Drive. The suspect has been coming to the victim’s residence and knocking on the door as well as sending unwanted messages. The victim has advised the suspect that they do not want contact but the suspect is still attempting to contact them, leaving food and notes at the victim’s place of business and most recently coming to their residence, the address of which he was never supplied by the victim. The suspect was located near the area and was given a criminal trespassing order by officers. The investigation will continue.
On Nov. 17, Officers were notified of three incidents of Burglary of Motor Vehicle in the 100 – 200 block of SE 20th. It appeared that suspect(s) were randomly checking cars for unlocked doors. Pocket change, a purse, and a bottle of prescription medication were taken in the crimes.
On Nov. 17, on officer attempted to stop a motorcycle for a traffic violation. The driver fled the stop. The officer was able, through investigative techniques, to obtain information on the motorcycle as well as the driver. A warrant will be requested for the arrest of the driver charging them with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle a Felony.
Officers made 40 traffic stops, 6 adult arrest, and answered 306 calls for service for this reporting period.
