On Mar. 7, officers arrested Christopher Don Thompson (32) in the 1000 block of Jackson St. Officers served a warrant on Thompson for Bond Surrender on a Possession of a Controlled Substance Warrant. He was arrested without incident.
On Mar. 7, the Department received a report of theft at Wal-Mart. A known suspect entered the store, took merchandise from the shelf then went to the Customer Service Counter and produced a receipt indicating they had purchased the merchandise. The suspect then claimed that they wanted to return the merchandise and were given a refund for the property. Officers collected video evidence of the crime and a warrant for the suspect will be forthcoming.
On Mar. 7, an assault on an Elderly or Disabled Individual was worked in the 400 block of SE 10th. The victim (70 years of age) advised that a family member had forced their way into the residence by breaking a screen door and had then shoved them in the chest, causing pain and bruising. A witness at the scene confirmed the story. The suspect had already left the scene prior to officers arrival. The case is under investigation.
On Mar. 8, officers responded to a Burglary of Habitation in the 400 block of SW 5th. The victim advised an ex-boyfriend had entered her home while she was out and had then confronted her with a knife after she had gone to bed. The suspect had then cut the hand of the victim’s daughter during the altercation. Suspect had fled the scene when he found the victim was on the phone. The incident is under investigation.
On Mar. 9, officers received information that Montrell Lawun Black had outstanding warrants and was currently located in the 300 block of Stone Avenue. They went to the location where they observed Black in a pre-described vehicle. Shortly after officers arrival Black left the property he was on in the vehicle. He was stopped in the 800 block of Deshong Drive. Black mis-identified himself to officers and was detained for Failure to Identify. Officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle and Black advised he had no narcotics in the vehicle. Black then positively identified himself as the subject wanted on the warrants. He was arrested for a Parole Warrants for Family Violence, Interfering With Emergency Phone Call, and Assault Causing Bodily Injury. During a post-arrest search of Black’s person, officers located cash contained in a plastic bag in his pocket. Officers performed an inventory of Black’s vehicle and located Cocaine and Marijuana as well as paraphernalia indicating that Black was packaging the narcotics for resale. He was subsequently charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Poss of marijuana over 4 ounces. Black was arrested in a Drug Free Zone, enhancing the charges. He was booked and transferred to Lamar County Jail.
On Mar. 9, a traffic equipment violation preceded officers coming into contact with two individuals in the 1800 block of East Cherry St. A warrant check revealed that the driver had two outstanding traffic warrants and the passenger, Randa Lynn Conrad was wanted on a warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both were removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. An inventory of the vehicle located pre-packaged methamphetamine and prescription medications (narcotics) as well as other paraphernalia associated with the packaging and sale of narcotics in Conrad’s purse. She was also charged with Manufacturing or Delivering a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both arrestees were transported and booked without incident.
Officers made 48 traffic stops, 8 adult arrest, and answered 243 calls for service for this reporting period.
