On June 16, Officers responded to a hit and run incident in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue. The victim advised a subject had backed into his vehicle and then left the scene before officers could be notified. It was later learned that the suspect had just stolen several hundred dollars worth of lawn equipment from inside the store and was in the process of making his escape. Through cooperation with Wal Mart Security, video was obtained of the license number of the vehicle. The vehicle was traced to an address in Oklahoma and the owner was contacted. The suspect was identified from a previous theft occurring at Wal-Mart. Once the suspect was identified, it was determined that he had a previous conviction for theft. Warrants will be forthcoming for the arrest of the suspect, charging him with Theft (Felony) and leaving the scene of an accident.
Officers made 13 traffic stops, 4 adult arrest, and answered 99 calls for service for this reporting period.
