A man was shot with a flare gun on Monday after he was confronted by several juveniles claiming the bicycle he was riding belonged to one of them and a verbal altercation ensued.
According to reports, the assault occurred in the 1100 block of Bonham Street after the victim was confronted by the suspects.
The suspect, whose identity is known following an investigation, shot the victim in the stomach at a range of approximately 20 feet, causing minor injuries.
The suspect shot at the victim again but missed and narrowingly missed a passing vehicle.
The suspects then left the scene and headed northbound on the walking trail.
Officers recovered the spent flare cartridges at the scene and spoke with uninvolved witnesses.
A flare gun is considered a Deadly Weapon, therefore, the offense is Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The incident is under investigation.
