On Jan. 29 at 6:55p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for an expired registration in the 700 block of W. Center. The driver, Erik Lynn Gilbert (43), and the passenger, Daylan Trey Copeland (18), were both arrested after methamphetamine was found to have been discarded in a cup containing a drink with the intentions of disposing of the narcotics. Copeland also gave a ficticious name to officers to avoid arrest on other warrants. Copeland was charged with Possesession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Evidence, Fail to Id as a fugitive from justice as well as other misdemeanor warrants. Gilbert was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Tampering with Evidence.
On Jan. 29 at 10:01 p.m., a traffic stop brought officers into contact with Kenshay Dionne Crittenden (25) in the 2000 block of Bonham St. Officers detected marijuana smell in the vehicle. Crittenden was found to be in possession of marijuana as well as THC Edibles. She was charged with Possession of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On Jan. 29 at 9:15 a.m., officers received a report of a vehicle theft from the 600 block of SE 13th. The vehicle was parked in a driveway at that location with keys left in the ignition. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle and received information that the vehicle was in the area of 271 North. Officers responded to the area and located the vehicle. The suspect attempted to evade police in the vehicle and then abandoned it and fled into a wooded area. Officers located Dalton Joseph Douglas (25) and placed him under arrest for Evading Arrest in a vehicle, Unauthorized use of identifying information, Unauthorized Use of a vehicle and 2 other warrants, one for a previous charge of Unauthorized use of vehicle and another for Burglary of a Vehicle.
On Jan. 29 at 7:31 a.m., officers were notified of a burglary of motor vehicle in the 3200 block of Allen st. A suspect had entered the victims unlocked vehicle and had stolen cash from a purse left inside the vehicle. Suspect also attempted to enter another unlocked vehicle at the residence but could not make entry. Video was collected and investigation will continue.
