A man was arrested on Monday after stealing a vehicle, which had the keys left in the ignition, and evading police before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing into a wooded area.
Paris Police Officers received a report around 9:15 a.m. of a vehicle theft from the 600 block of SE 13th Street.
According to the report, the vehicle was parked in a driveway at that location with the keys left in the ignition.
Officers attempted to locate the vehicle and received information that the vehicle was in the area of 271 N.
After responding to the area, officers located the vehicle and suspect attempted to evade police in the vehicle before abandoning it and fleeing into a wooded area.
Officers located 25-year old Dalton Joseph Douglas and placed him under arrest for Evading Arrest in a vehicle, Unauthorized use of identifying information, Unauthorized Use of a vehicle and 2 other warrants, one for a previous charge of Unauthorized use of vehicle and another for Burglary of a Vehicle.
