The community is coming together once again Sunday for North Lamar and Paris High School bands as the two are expected to head to UIL State Marching Competition in San Antonio.
North Lamar sophomore Morgan Butler, who plays and marches tenor sax, said she is “super excited to go to state.”
“We have worked extremely hard and have put in many hours of work,” she said. “I can not wait to go and make memories with this amazing group of people.”
Magean Pretre, a band mom also the mother of Butler, said she is also “really excited for the North Lamar band.”
“It has been a crazy year and these kids have really worked hard to get this together,” Pretre said. “They have not had the normal run-through of the show several times like a normal year.
“I’m especially excited for our junior and senior band kids,” she continued. “This is their last chance before they graduate. I have a daughter that is a Junior and one that is a Sophomore.”
To encourage the two bands, supporters will line up alongside Hwy. 19/24, from Loop 286 and south, to cheer them to victory. They are expected to leave out at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13.
“Bring your signs and noisemakers,” North Lamar Band Boosters posted on social media. “We would love to make this a huge community event. Please invite everyone to help send these two bands off to state in style.”
