According to The Old Farmers’ Almanac, Texas is headed into a particularly rough winter as the northern portion can expect below-normal temperatures.
The Old Farmers’ Almanac’s extended forecast says this upcoming winter “will be colder than normal … with the coldest periods in mid- to late November, mid- and late December, and early and late January.”
Precipitation for the northern portion of the Texas-Oklahoma region will be below normal, and above average in the south, with snowfall’s greatest chance in early and late January in the northern portion of the region.
“Our overall accuracy rate in forecasting the direction of the change in temperature compared with the previous winter season across the 18 regions of the United States was 72.2%, while our accuracy rate in forecasting the change in precipitation was 77.88%,” the Old Farmer’s Almanac states.
