The North Lamar Pantherettes not only celebrated an impression win against Liberty-Eylau over the weekend but Maddie Walters scored her 1,250th career point in basketball.
“Maddie has been an incredible player throughout her high school career and is a true testament to the value of hard work and dedication,” said NL coaches.
Walters awards throughout her career include Red River Defensive Player of the Year, All District Defensive MVP(3 years), Team All Around MVP(2 years), Team Defensive MVP, and First Team All District (3 years).
When asked about this particular achievement, Maddie says “I hit a major milestone and I thank God for allowing me to reach it. First, I would like to thank my parents for always being my #1 supporter. Secondly, I want to thank everyone that has helped me on my journey and help me become the basketball player I am today, but I’m not finished yet! ITS JUST THE BEGINNING.”
Maddie will graduate in May and hopes to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level while preparing for a career in the dental field.
