Nancy Lee Lecky Cowley, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, at Spring Lake Assisted Living and Memory Care in Paris, Texas.
A celebration of her life will be held at Christian Fellowship Paris on Friday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Born August 5, 1942, in El Dorado, Arkansas, Nancy was the daughter of Dr. Paul William and Birtie Lee Whitlock Lecky. She attended El Dorado schools and was a graduate of El Dorado High School in 1960. She then attended Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was a member of the Centenary College Choir during her four year tenure. She graduated from Centenary in 1964 with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. She then taught at St. Paul’s Episcopal School in New Orleans, Louisiana for three years before moving to Shreveport. In 1975 Nancy and her family moved to Paris, Texas, and in 1985 she began teaching with Paris I.S.D. at Justiss Elementary School. She retired after 19 years of service there. She was a long time member of Christian Fellowship Church.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Paul William Lecky, Sr., and by her only brothers, Dr. Paul William Lecky, Jr., and Mr. Robert Andrew Lecky, Sr.
Family members left to remember and honor her as a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother are two sons, Larry Allen Cowley, Jr. of Blacksburg, Virginia, and Christopher Andrew Cowley of Paris; a daughter and son-in-law Lezlie and Sean Allison of Abbotsford, British Columbia; Three grandsons, David Josiah Allison (wife Tessa), Nathanael Taylor Allison (wife Ella), and Andrew Paul Allison (fiance Payten); granddaughter Christiana Marie Allison; and one great grandbaby expected in August 2025. Nancy also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law along with a host of treasured friends to cherish her memory.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to ‘angel’ caregiver Betty Cooper who faithfully and lovingly cared for Nancy the past several years.
Whether known as Mom, Nonnie, Aunt Nancy, Nancy, or Mrs. Cowley – Nancy will be remembered as one who loved others deeply and walked in knowing “The joy of the Lord is my strength.”
