Paris High School graduate of 2018 Averi McFadden recently signed onto the U.S. Marine Corps and made her way to boot camp on Dec 16.

“I want to be a Marine so that I can do something big with my life,” said McFadden.

Having always wanted to join the military since she was 15-years old, McFadden found it long road to figuring out which branch of service would suit her best.

“After attending my older brother’s Marine Corps boot camp graduation, I realized that the Marine Corps was the path I needed to take,” she explained. “ I knew that it had the most challenging boot camp and physical standards which is another thing that drew me to it. I didn’t want to take the easy route in life.”

With the help of Staff Sgt. Nathaniel Daniel, McFadden is on her way to excitedly await the day she can call herself a Marine.

“I know that once I finish boot camp and earn the title of Marine, all my hard work will have paid off,” she said.
