Lamar County has been placed under a local state of disaster, according to Lamar County Judge Brandon Bell, after winter weather struck the area, leaving behind damaged homes, buildings, roads, bridges and more.
According to the local state of disaster declaration from the Lamar Count Commissioners Courtroom, Lamar County suffered widespread damages and loss of property resulting from the winter storm.
“The County Judge of Lamar County has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property,” the declaration states.
