Three Lamar County firefighters were deployed last week to west Texas with the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) to assist after recent flooding in the City of Amarillo.
Lamar County Emergency Management Coordinator, Quincy Blount, along with Faught VFD Captain Tyler Browning and Faught VFD firefighter EMT Sean Hickman were deployed by the state on June 2, 2023, and at this time, are unsure when they will be released home.

Texas Task Force Strike Team 117 consists of Bonham, Allen, McKinney, Fort Worth , and Groesbeck Fire Departments in which Blount, Browning and Hickman all work at full-time in addition to volunteering in Lamar County.
As of Sunday, the City of Amarillo Fire Department stated that 245 people and 57 animals have been evacuated from the flood waters after the area reportedly received more than 20 inches of rain.
