Lamar County’s chief deputy elections administrator Amanda McCloure said prospective voters can drop off their voter registration forms beyond the office’s normal operating hours. This announcement comes ahead of Monday’s deadline for citizens to register to vote.
Normally, the elections office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, McCloure said the drop off box will be outside of the building, where voters seeking to register can drop off their forms at any time before, during, or after normal operating hours through the Monday deadline. This includes any time over the coming weekend.
“We have this out front for after hours individuals that can’t make it to drop them off during normal business hours,” McCloure said. “This is a locked box and we will check it every morning and afternoon before we leave. It will be out everyday, even on weekends. There are blank applications in the bottom slot with pens to fill out one if you need one as well.”
The office is located at 231 Lamar Avenue in downtown Paris. Also, Monday, Oct. 5 is the last day to register to vote. For any questions or more information, call McCloure in the elections office at 903-782-1116.
