“… you will be laid off from your position … on August 30, 2021.”
These words echoed once again throughout Turner Industries in Paris on July 1 as employees were hand-delivered a “WARN Act Notice / Large Scale Reduction in Force.” These words were read not too long ago, when the company issued a similar letter on Oct. 8, 2020, about its Dec. 11, 2020, large-scale layoff.
The WARN Act Notice stated, “a large-scale (reduction of force) will be conducted at its facility … on August 30, 2021.”
The notice claims the reason for the layoff stems from the lack of improved current business conditions “and adverse developments regarding customer orders and deliverables …”
One disgruntled, soon-to-be-former employee said the layoff could have been prevented. They blame mismanagement as “an incredible role in this.
“They hired back way too many employees before work was even guaranteed,” the employee claimed. “The company will close its doors; whether that’s permanent or not is just a rumor.”
Turner, unable to determine how long the layoffs will last, said in the company-wide letter “layoffs are expected to be temporary.”
During a company-wide meeting, Turner Industries told the workforce a project is possible to arrive in September.
