Lamar county’s fastest growing internet company, Wifires, recently announced the purchase of Starnet; the longest running internet company in the area.

The merger between the two companies will take effect immediately with current Starnet customers seeing the benefits of what WiFires can offer.

“We will start to upgrade the 44 Starnet towers in Lamar County with our LTE wireless network,” said the president of WiFires Mossie Kines. “Customers will see faster internet speeds with these upgrades, however, they will not be charged for the upgrades or locked into any contracts.”

Starnet has been in Paris since 1996, offering dial-up internet to locals before adding wireless in 1999.

WiFires launched in late May 2018 and has quickly become the fastest growing internet company in the area. WiFires offer customers unlimited internet with no data caps, no contracts, and competitive prices.

“Starnet customers will receive the same quality service that our WiFires customers has been receiving since we launched,” said Kines. “We are proud to offer no contracts and unlimited internet. We believe in our product so much we don’t want to lock our customers into anything.”

President of Starnet, Larry Rhea echoed Kines excitement about the merger.

“When I started exploring the option of selling my father’s company, I wanted to make sure it was taken over by someone who would continue his legacy and great service we have offered our customers for the past 20 + years,” said Rhea.

However, although WiFIres has bought Starnet, Rhea and his employees will continue to work with the company.

“We are excited to have Starnet join our WiFires family and move into our office in beautiful downtown Paris,” said WiFires office manager Melissa Jernigan.

Starnet customers can expect no interruptions during the merger and upgrade of towers. WiFires internet services all of Lamar County.
