Residents of Paris will soon see 12 Paris Metro bus shelters and 20 benches pop up around town thanks to a grant from TXDOT.

“The shelters arrived yesterday and the city has been so gracious to assemble and install them at no cost,” said Executive Director of United Way Jenny Wilson.

Paris Metro was brought to Paris two years ago by the Ark-Texas Council of Governments and has given over 75,000 rides.

“The bus system has been great for our economy,” said Wilson. “We hear stories all thetimem about people now being able to get to the doctor, can go grocery shopping, it’s made a huge difference.”

The new bus shelters are expected to be installed by the end of the year.

“The shelters are so beautiful and will change the look of the city. We are so proud and very excited,” added Wilson.

Paris Metro is a fixed bus route with 4 operating buses. It cost 50 cent to ride and seniors and the disabled ride for free.
