The Lamar County Emergency Response Team will be offering a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course to area residents this fall.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program was developed by FEMA to educate volunteers about disaster preparedness and hazards that may impact their area and train participants in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

The three-day course meets on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 29, Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. (Note: All three class sessions must be attended to gain credit for the course).

All classes will be held in the Paris Fire Department Training Room, 1444 N. Main St. in Paris. (Training room is on the 2nd floor)

There is a $10 registration fee with manual and training materials provided.

Joining CERT is not a requirement to participate in this training conducted by certified instructors.
