Elected county officials were sworn into office at the Lamar County Courthouse on Jan. 1, 2025.
Newly elected Lamar County Constable Precinct 2 Curtis Graham was joined by his family at the courthouse as he began his new position with the county.
Graham, a Veteran and law enforcement officer on 18-years, ran against Gerry Don Hines and Jeffrey Jones in the primaries, going into a run-off against Hines in May 2024and winning by 15 votes.
Brooke Hill, who has worked at Assistant Chief Deputy at the Lamar County Tax Office for the past 11-years, won County Tax Assessor-Collector against Cole Sain in the primaries.
“Today I officially started my term as Lamar County Tax Assessor,” said Hill on Jan. 2. “I am beyond grateful for this journey and thankful for all the support received along the way. My ladies are here to help with any questions or concerns. Thank you again, Lamar County.”
Hill said starting immediately, the Tax Assessors Office we will remain open during lunch hours.
Alan Keith Skidmore, Lamar County Commissioner Precinct 1, won against Randy Boren in the primaries and Ronald Bass, Lamar County Commissioner Precinct 3, won against George Proctor and William Purcella.
Lamar County Constable Precinct 4 Tyler Anderson won against incumbent Hunter Sanders during the March 2024 primaries, however, was sworn into office on Aug. 26, 2024, following the resignation of Sanders.
Elected officials, who ran unopposed, also sworn in on Wednesday were County Attorney Gary D. Young, Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass, Justice of the Peace – Precinct 5 – Place 1 Michael ‘Woody’ Woodson, Lamar County Constable Precinct 1 Travis Rhodes, Lamar County Constable Precinct 3 Steven Hill, and Lamar County Constable Precinct 5 Jimmy Hodges.
“I was honored to have Judge Anson Amis swear me in to start my fourth term as your Sheriff,” said Sheriff Scott Cass. “Judge Amis and I had worked many years together at the Sheriff’s Office, before he was elected to Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 Place 2. It was a proud moment. Many thanks. It has truly been an honor and privilege serving as your Sheriff since 2013. Thank you for the continued opportunity to serve as your Lamar County Sheriff and for the trust you have placed in me throughout these years. My door is always open and I look forward to serving you for the years to come. Have a blessed New Year.”
