Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop is putting up Lamar County’s 24 public safety dispatchers for adoption Monday afternoon.
“The challenges we have faced with Covid, as well as through the winter storm, have been especially hard on our dedicated public safety telecommunicators,” LC Adopt-A-Cop President Amanda Willows said.
These first responders –13 at Paris Police Department and 11 at Lamar County Sheriff’s Office – coordinate emergency response and law enforcement operations by taking and dispatching calls for help to police, EMS and fire departments.
“These heroes serve as the vital links yet are rarely recognized because they are not physically at the scene,” Willows said.
At 12 p.m., noon, on Monday, all dispatchers will be available for adoption and receive special, pre-selected gifts during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, April 11-18.
The cost to adopt a dispatcher will be $25, and the number to call for adoptions will be made available once it begins.
