Kia America has issued a “park outside” recall for 462,869 model year 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles because of a risk of fire while parked or driving.
The automaker is advising owners to park their vehicles outside and away from other vehicles and structures until the recall repair has been completed.
The front power seat motor on the affected vehicles could overheat because of a stuck power seat slide knob, potentially resulting in a fire and increasing the risk of injury.
To fix the issue, dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs, free of charge.
Owners can expect to be notified by mail starting July 30 and can contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542. Kia’s number for the recall is SC316.
Kia vehicle owners can also visit NHTSA.gov/recalls or call NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 and enter their license plate number or 17-digit vehicle identification number to see if their vehicle is under recall. NHTSA also encourages everyone to download its SaferCar app to stay informed on current recalls.
