Chisum High School hosted The TAEA Region 8 VASE Art contest on Saturday, Feb. 11. Thirteen schools submitted two hundred and eighty-five artworks to be juried for the chance to earn a regional gold medal. Chisum had 31 students and 44 artworks compete, of which 23 students and 29 artworks received a regional gold medal. Six students received two medals for two artworks, and nine students received perfect scores. The rating is determined by a composite score of the artwork and student interview.
Out of the 285 artworks only 18 were selected as state qualifiers to compete at the State VASE Art Event in San Marcos this April. Junior Adamaris Jimenez was chosen as one of the state qualifiers this year, also her second year in a row as a state qualifier.
