J.M. Beshirs, 90, of the Georgia Community, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Pine Tree Ranch Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the Leslie Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Ray Woods and Associate Pastor David Dunigan officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
Mr. Beshirs was born on October 7, 1935, in Yuba, Oklahoma. A son of Ruel Emmanuel, Sr., and Nettie Freeman Beshirs. He married the love of his life, Alice Marie Stark, on September 14, 1953, and they had four sons. He was plant manager of The Drawing Board, Inc. in Dallas, Texas, and a maintenance engineer for Earth Grains Bakery in Paris, Texas. Most importantly, Mr. Beshirs was led to serve as a pastor of the Pentecostal church. He devoted 40+ years ministering in nursing homes and hospitals. He also helped establish churches in the Leslie Chapel Community and Honey Grove, Texas. He labored tirelessly in improvements, maintenance and creating cross-reference records for the Georgia Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife, brothers R.A., Billy Randall, Bobby, Joe Dee, Ruel Jr., and sisters Jean Trammell and Nelda Farmer.
He is survived by his sister Carolyn Barnett, brothers Jimmy Beshirs, Michael Beshirs and Paul Beshirs; his sons Gerald Wayne (Joanne) Beshirs, Sr., Samuel David (Tina) Beshirs, Sr., Billy Ray (Teresa) Beshirs, Sr., and Glynn Edwin (Kathy) Beshirs; his grandchildren Gerald (Angela) Beshirs, Jr., Angie (Jason) Stephens, Mandy (Brian) Scott, Jennifer Williams, Falon (Michael) Pilkington, David Beshirs, Jr., Jeremy (Kendra) Beshirs, Elizabeth Beshirs, Robert Beathard, Amanda (Niel) Brotherton, Lona (Richard – deceased) Dawkins, Billy Beshirs, Jr., Stephanie (Andy) Eudy, Tuesday Cohee, Christopher (Jack) Beshirs and D’Anna Anderson; 49 great grandchildren; 31 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Gerald Beshirs, Jr., David Beshirs, Jr., Jeremy Beshirs, Billy Beshirs, Jr., Christopher Beshirs, and Austin Stephens. Honorary pallbearers are Cameron Beshirs, Colton Beshirs, Ryan Scott, Trevor Scott, Mason Stephens, Devin Elmore (deceased), Carter Elmore, Matthew Berry, Blake Beshirs, Kyler Beshirs, Adrian Dawkins, Jacob Dawkins, Landon Beshirs, Payton Elmore, Carson Cohee, Jace Anderson and Zane Anderson.
The family finds great comfort in a favorite verse from Isaiah 40:31 “but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not be faint.” And he waited, faithfully.
