A Honey Grove ISD High School student has tested positive for COVID-19, said the school in a letter sent to student families.

“In keeping with Honey Grove ISD’s practice to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families and staff that a high school student who was lab confirmed to have COVID-19 was present at school for a portion of today, September 3, 2020,” said superintendent Todd Morrison.

The letter went on to explain that no students or staff had experienced prolonged exposure and it was confirmed that all students in close proximity to the positive case were wearing masks. Therefore, according to CDC guidelines and TEA recommendations, no one has been required to quarantine besides the positive case and household members, said the school.

“Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her,” said Morrison. “We encourage anyone in the HG ISD community who is COVID-19 lab confirmed or tested to please notify our district by contacting the district nurse or campus principals.”
