A second and third Prairiland ISD staff member has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the district’s website.

Prairiland ISD reported on Sept. 4 a Prairiland Junior High School staff member tested COVID-19 positive. And early Tuesday an additional high school staff member tested positive as well.

“We are following guidelines set forth by our local Health Department,” the district said on its site. “Any students directly affected by this will be contacted by the district.”

According to district policy, students or staff who come into close contact – within 6 feet for 15 or more minutes – with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 will be asked to self-quarantine for two weeks and should contact the school for meeting the “Return to School Criteria.”

“We are doing the same as we have been doing since school started which is Lots of cleaning surfaces, wearing mask, washing hands,” said superintendent Jeff Ballard. “All desks are cleaned between every period. Nobody else will need to be quarantined because it’s a low risk situation with everybody wearing mask. The other person was a teachers aide.”

However, any students requiring quarantine will transition to remote learning for the self-isolation period.
