Diagnosed with hearing loss in 2011, Paris High School Junior Alexis Jackson is set to receive her third pair of hearing aids with the help of Paris Texas Elks Lodge 2433.
Because of the donations, dues and other fundraising done by the Elks Lodge, Jackson received a $2,200 grant to replace her five-year-old hearing aids. Jackson has been using the current pair of hearing aids since 2016, “and they generally last 3-5 years.
“She was coming right to the end of life for the current ones,” said Jennifer, Alexis’ mom.
Alexis has moderate-to-severe hearing loss, and without hearing aids, she is limited to everyday sounds she’s able to hear.
“Thank you so much to Linda McCarrell for helping me with the paperwork and all of the Elks Lodge Paris, Texas. members, donations, and fundraising to make this grant possible,” Alexis said. “Because of it, I’ve been able to hear a lot of new things I couldn’t hear before and I’ll be able to hear and comprehend others better.”
Jennifer said the new hearing aids will have Bluetooth technology and a microphone to help Alexis understand her teachers clearer.
